Residents are missing Mullanys’ 318 bus service from Abbots Langley to Watford, which was suspended at the beginning of lockdown.
The service, which had to be saved by local councillors’ campaigning in 2018, stopped running in late March because Mullanys Coaches was concerned about its drivers and passengers, who are predominantly elderly.
Ken, a regular user of the service, said: “We’re really missing the service and aren’t sure if it’s going to resume after lockdown. There are other services that do similar routes, but none as consistent as the 318, and none with service as good.
“The drivers have always been excellent and punctual. It would be a real shame to lose that service.”
Mullanys’ latest update on the service was on March 23, when it said: “The situation that we find ourselves in as a country is unprecedented and we have given a serious amount of thought to the continued operation of the 318 service.
“It is with regret that we have to advise that given the current pandemic situation coupled with the advice on social distancing we find ourselves with no other option than to suspend the operation of the service as continuing to run places both our drivers and demographic, which is predominately the elderly, at risk.”
