‘NO-NONSENSE APPROACH’: Over 100 abandoned vehicles removed from Harrow’s streets

Published on: 28th February 2026   |   By: Ellie Rose   |   Category: Featured

If you’ve noticed more parking spaces appearing on your street lately, there is a reason.

Since April 2025, Harrow Council’s public protection team has been cracking down on abandoned, untaxed and unroadworthy vehicles cluttering residential roads and council car parks.

Using Community Protection Warning (CPW) stickers under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, officers can act quickly when vehicles are left causing obstruction or concern.

So far, more than 500 vehicles have been investigated, with 114 removed from streets and car parks.

Fixed Penalty Notices have also been issued, and residents are seeing visible improvements in parking and neighbourhood safety.

The work has now been recognised nationally, with Harrow shortlisted for Keep Britain Tidy’s Environmental Action Award. Winners will be announced on Thursday, February 26.

Councillor Pritesh Patel said: “We’re taking a no-nonsense approach to nuisance vehicles. Residents want to see cleaner streets and safer neighbourhoods.”
