NO LIKEY NO LIGHTY: Hemel resident talks Take Me Out experience

A daring Hemel Hempstead man decided to try his luck on Paddy McGuinness’ dating show, Take Me Out.

The hit ITV series, which puts a bachelor in front of 30 women that he has narrow down to one date, aired an episode featuring 26-year-old Jack Powell on Saturday, November 30; and the local skip lorry driver was keen to share his experience with HemelNews readers.

He said: “With the show, it’s actually very much ‘what you see is what you get.’

“You meet the other lads the night before, but you’re kept very much in the dark about who the women in your episode are going to be – you literally don’t see them until you’re coming down the tunnel and onto the show.

“It’s terrifying – you walk out in front of all these women and an entire audience and have to make really quick decisions on who you’d like to date with almost no information at all. I felt I came off pretty well though; my friends definitely got a kick out of it.”

Jack did pick a girl on the episode that was filmed a year ago and went on several dates with her – but he said it was other relationships he built that surprised him.

“I’ve actually stayed in contact with all the lads I met on the show. We go out together a lot and I went on holiday with one of them as well. I’d highly recommend getting out your comfort zone and going on the show.”
