Published on: 27th April 2015   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category: Watford FC

A fundraising event held on Sunday at a Watford pub raised about £1,500 for Watford FC fan Nic Cruwys and his family.

Mr Cruwys, affectionately known as “Moo”, was savagely attacked on March 7 by a gang after the game against Wolves on March 7.

The Golden Lion Pub, on Estcourt Road, hosted an event on Sunday featuring live music, a BBQ, bouncy castle, and auction featuring signed football memorabilia from a range of clubs including Watford, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, and match tickets. The pub said it was a “brilliant” day with about 150 people in attendance.

Meanwhile, two more teenagers have been arrested in connection with the attack on Mr Cruwys.

West Midlands Police confirmed a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were arrested at their home addresses in Staffordshire and Wolverhampton.

The 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of wounding while the 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

Nine teens have now been arrested in connection with the attack on the father-of-two.

A statement was recently released by Nic’s family. It said: “Nic has been moved out of an Intensive Care Unit and into a high dependency ward where he has made some steady progress.

“He is able to walk with some assistance, though still has a long road ahead in terms of getting back to full fitness, it is fair to say he is making the kind of progress which four weeks ago, we could only have dreamt about.”

All nine of the teenagers are due to answer bail on Tuesday, May 5.
