Mr Russell MP joined Small Acts of Kindness (SAoK) CEO Lynne Misner (both pictured above) to deliver Warm in Winter gift bags to older Watford residents who had been nominated to receive one.

SAoK aims to make every local older person feel warm in their home and connected to their community, and its Warm in Winter gift bags contain essential, practical keep warm items for older people.

During his visit on Saturday, December 21, Mr Russell MP confirmed his commitment during his term in office to tackling loneliness and the negative impact that it has on mental and physical wellbeing

CEO Lynne Misner said: “There is no one better than older people themselves, to explain how lonely and isolated life can sometimes be. Dean’s interest in older people and the plight they face is most welcoming and we look forward to working with him to help improve the lives of local older people.”

Mr Russell MP said: “Loneliness and mental health have long been a passion for me and it’s great to see such incredible work first-hand. As the MP for Watford I have a responsibility to ensure such things are championed and this is why I put them in my local manifesto.”

The charity also thanked its partners and volunteers, “whose kindness and support have enabled us to help over 7,000 older people across Hertfordshire so far this winter.”
