Tesco has announced it will be opening a new Express store in Market Place, Chalfont St Peter.
Competitor Co-op, which had been located at the site since 2016, closed its branch at Bishops House in January ahead of the unit’s lease expiring in March.
Before the store is handed to Tesco, a planning application was approved for the replacement of the existing shutter and single door with a double metal door, as well as a bin store.
Tesco will take over the building towards the end of the year, with aims that the store will open early next year.
The store will be offering a range of job roles and will also be welcoming food bank donations.
The Tesco Stronger Starts programme will also be available to offer funding to schools, charities and not-for-profit organisations which focus on providing food and support for young people.
Jessica McCulloch, Tesco’s community engagement manager, said: “We’re excited to announce this new Tesco store in Chalfont St Peter and look forward to sharing more information with you about the store nearer to the opening.”
