NEW ROLES: Chorleywood charity announce internships available as pavilion construction continues

Village-based charity Mission EmployAble, who are working with Chorleywood Cricket Club (CCC) to build a new clubhouse and café for the community, have announced new internships for work there.

The organisation, which provides work and job advice for those with learning disabilities, have been able to advertise the positions due to the fact that work is progressing so well on the building.

Steve Dunning, chair of CCC, said: “The slate tiles and timber cladding are due to start in May, when most of the scaffolding will come down.

“The walkers on the Common will notice a real difference in the Pavilion’s new look, once the next phase of the build gets underway.”

The new internships are set to begin in September, the same time as when the clubhouse, designed by Jane Duncan Architects of Little Chalfont and being built by construction firm Boom, and carry on through to 2023.

The current crop of Mission EmployAble interns are also running a pop-up café in the Junction on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:30am to 10:30am and 2:30pm to 4:30pm, where they hope residents will residents will visit for tea and cakes.

The charity’s ‘Music Quiz Under the Stars’ is also taking bookings now. The event, which was a sell-out last year, will take place on Friday, July 22.
