Watford residents are set to get caught in the midst of the Heathrow third runway row after it was revealed that new flightpaths will pass directly over the town. The airport expansion scheme, which was green lit by the government last month after years of uncertainty, showed two new routes would travel over the north east side of Cassiobury Park near the town centre and a separate route would cover north Watford and Bushey. Currently, Watford has no Heathrow related flightpaths. Residents took to Twitter to vent their frustration at the new proposals. Philip Scott-Wallace wrote: “It’s about growth that works for everyone. How is Heathrow going to help anyone north of Watford?” Proposals to expand an existing runway at Heathrow or build a second runway at Gatwick were rejected, according to reports from the Airport Commission.
