A sports and social club which Vinnie Jones once attended will now be used as a child contact centre after Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) approved plans to change the venue’s purpose.
Abbots Langley Parish Council submitted an application on Monday, July 29, to turn Bedmond Sports & Social Club on Langley Road into a child contact centre. TRDC approved the scheme on Thursday, September 26.
The building, which will be operated by Centre for Families, will now be used as a safe and neutral space where children of separate families can enjoy contact.
The old sports facility will not be changed internally and the changing rooms and storage will still be available to Bedmond Youth Football Club.
The plans show that the centre will be open from 10am to 6pm from Monday to Saturday. The change of use will create six new roles in the area, including childcare experts and volunteers.
There was only one objection to the proposal.
