Watford FC fans have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help reimagine the most defining aspect of any club – the crest.
Watford announced their intentions of letting the fans design and then choose a new club crest earlier in the year, and they’ve now outlined the system they’ll use.
On their official website, the club said: “Here at Watford FC, we’re starting something exciting that’s all to do with the club’s crest/badge.
“We want to see if one of our supporters or followers around the world can design something amazing that might then replace our current club logo if it proves popular enough with our own fans.
“It’s very informal. Anyone can submit their design, as long as they follow the guidelines we’ve set alongside our project partner Talenthouse. And there’s a reward for the designers who make the final.”
A panel of 20 Hornets’ supporters – which anyone can apply to join – will work together with the club to narrow all the submissions down to a final choice of a maximum of five new designs plus the existing badge for a final vote.
As if the motive of being a part of the club’s history wasn’t enough, the winner will also win a £8,000 cash prize.
