Hertsmere Borough Council has committed to establishing a partnership with Israel that will include working together to feature film and tv projects.

Councillor Paul Morris proposed a motion at a council meeting on July 20, encouraging closer collaboration between the council and Israel, with a particular focus on the film and media sector.

Cllr Morris says the motion was designed to demonstrate that Hertsmere stands in full support of the Jewish Community and any minority group and welcomes their contribution, by creating strong ties with the State of Israel.

Hertsmere Council proposes to show continued solidarity as a Borough with Jewish communities in Hertsmere, to focus on media, television production and film, in-principal agreement to be brought back to the Executive Committee for its approval under its economic development function, and to promote the borough is open for business and community partnership at the international level.

Cllr Morris said: “I have been in discussion with the embassy of Israel for quite some time because Hertsmere is growing at an exceptional pace as far as the film industry.

“By entering this motion hopefully promoting the community cohesion and also standing we as a council support all our community and where they come from.”
