International singer and songwriter Sir Elton John, who grew up in the town until he was 17, unveiled an unlikely collaboration with rock icons Metallica last month.
On his Apple Music show Rocket Hour, Sir Elton John revealed: “I’ve just done something with Metallica during this lockdown period.”
Miley Cyrus told Capital FM that her Metallica cover of Nothing Else Matters features Elton John on the piano.
She said: Having Elton John and Metallica and me… I love when ingredients don’t quite fit. Or it seems like a concoction that no one would ever put together.”
Fans of the star were pleased when Sir Elton marked his 74th birthday by releasing a digital version of the first song he wrote with Bernie Taupin, Scarecrow.
Sir Elton John was raised by his grandparents in a council house in Pinner and attended Pinner Wood Junior School, Reddiford School and Pinner County Grammar school.
He has gone on to win multiple Grammy, Brit and Academy Awards and the Elton John AIDS Foundation has raised more than 3 million pounds for HIV prevention, treatment and advocacy programmes.
