NEW INITIATIVE: Coronavirus Support Group set up in Chorleywood to help during pandemic

Published on: 9th April 2020   |   By: Amneet Kaur   |   Category: Uncategorized

A coronavirus help support group has been set up to help village residents with the current coronavirus situation.

The Chorleywood Corona Support Group is composed by a group of parents from local schools and people willing and able to help during these uncertain times.

They can help by picking up food shopping, running local errands and get hold of urgent supplies.

Volunteers are also willing to purchase non-essential items too such as flowers, chocolate, birthday cards.

They provide emotional comfort to people that are feeling stressed and anxious during these difficult times.

The group is volunteering free of charge but they require people to pay for any groceries via cash or bank transfer.

This should be organised with the local volunteer, which will respect a safe distance and drop stuff on people’s doorsteps.

To ensure the group is robust and follows safeguarding principles, all volunteers have gone through an online registration process.

A statement published on their website read: “This is a Chorleywood community initiative that operates at street level. Local knowledge and our strong community network keeps us safe from undesirables.

“Please check the latest volunteer list for your street support. Note some volunteers may be temporarily inactive due to self isolating. Their return dates have been made visible on the list.

“Please call us. We are here for you. We are in this together.”

You can get in touch by emailing at vanessa.rousseau@st-andrews.org.uk or calling Vanessa on 07872 903486.
