New Croxley Green parish clerk steps up to the plate

Published on: 5th June 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Uncategorized

New Croxley Green Parish Council clerk Ryan Bennett has said he’s excited to be taking on the new role this month.

Current clerk David Allison is stepping down and retiring from his role, having spent more than 15 years serving the community of Croxley Green.

Speaking to CroxleyNews, Ryan said: “I’m really excited to get into it, we’ve had seven new councillors elected so it’s a really exciting time in the parish.

“I think I’m prepared for the role. I’ve been on the council for almost three years and David has a lot of knowledge, so I think I’m ready.”

At the age of 25, Ryan is the youngest clerk in the three rivers and possibly one of the youngest council clerks in the country.

Politics is something that has always interested Ryan and is hoping this move will encourage other young people to get involved in local politics.

He added: “Hopefully more young people get involved in politics and their local community and support residents of Croxley Green. I’ve always wanted to work in local politics because national governments are too detached whereas parish councils are in the heart of the community.”

In Ryan’s time as administrative assistant he as seen the parish, vote for a Neighbourhood Plan, elected a new councillor during a by-election and the annual new year eve fireworks and much more.
