Radlett Cricket Club have welcomed a new overseas player for the upcoming season.
Hayden Goulstone, 21, from Australia, currently plays grade cricket for Sydney’s famous Parramatta District Cricket Club, where he is the leading wicket-taker. Last season, he played for Woodbank Cricket Club near Bury in the Greater Manchester League.
He said: “I had a few offers, but we have an English overseas player here and he recommended Radlett. I had a great time in Bury in a really competitive league and I wanted to try playing in the south this time.
“My main strength is as a bowler, but I like to see myself as an all-rounder and I scored nearly 500 runs batting at number four in Bury where the pitches aren’t always great for batting. You don’t always get a chance to bat in grade cricket here, so I’m hoping to get the chance to make runs this season as well as taking wickets.
“I’m really looking forward to coming over and getting started, it’s going to be awesome.”
Hayden is also a level three coach who will be working with young players throughout the summer.
He added: “I did my first coaching level while I was at school and the next ones straight afterwards. I really enjoy coaching and I’ve been doing lots of one-to-ones.”
