Harrow Fire Station in Pinner and Stanmore Fire Station have become the two first fire stations to be included in the Safe Haven scheme.
The new scheme offers temporary refuge to people who are at risk and feel vulnerable or unsafe, with trained staff on hand to provide support.
Launched by the London Borough of Harrow in partnership with the Safer Business Network, the scheme is aimed at women and girls. However, these havens are open to anyone who needs them.
Harrow Fire Station is now the second Safe Haven site in the village, with the first location at Pinner Library.
Simon Horn, Borough Commander for Harrow, said: “Harrow Borough London Fire Brigade is proud to support the Safe Haven initiative. Working in partnership with this scheme enables us to contribute to the safety of our community, particularly women and girls, who have been identified as needing this support.”
