A student from Bushey has reached the finals of a prestigious national science and engineering competition.
Paola Cervellera, a Year 12 student at The Bushey Academy impressed judges with her project ‘high lift and camber airfoil’ winning her heat round and progressing to the next stage.
Paola will now compete at the finals of The Big Bang Fair in Birmingham in March, the largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths for young people in the UK.
Dr Hilary Leevers, Chief Executive, EngineeringUK said: “The student from The Bushey Academy really impressed the judges with her project and we’re excited to see how she does at the UK finals. It is a huge achievement to progress to this stage of The Competition and Paola should be incredibly proud to take up her place and compete at The Big Bang Fair in March 2020.”
The Big Bang Fair takes place from 11-14 March 2020 at the NEC Birmingham and is a great source of STEM inspiration for young people, who can enjoy a range of activities, workshops and career talks to inspire the next generation.
Paola will compete with other students for prizes including the title of GSK UK Young Engineer and UK Young Scientist of the Year.
