The Girls Football team from Little Green Junior School in Croxley Green competed at Watford FC’s training ground in the Premier League Primary Stars Regional Tournament in March.

There were 32 schools competing to be crowned champions, with the winner being given the chance to represent Watford FC at the National Finals in May.

The girls, Olivia, Lily, Aldona, Ava, Eve, Kyla, Isla and Naomi were drawn in a group with seven other schools and had to finish top to get through to the semi-finals. The girls ended up runaway winners of the group, drawing one game and winning all of the others.

They went through to the Semi-Final without conceding a single goal and scoring 20 in six games. The semi-final game finished 1-1 and went to penalties, where the girls remaining calm and focused managed to see them through to the final.

The final was their best performance of the day, controlling the game from start to finish and ending up the eventual champions, winning 1-0 to book their place in the National Finals.

Marcus Rivers Sports Coach at Little Green Junior School said: “The fantastic achievement of the team was only possible through every girl playing their part and they now get to play at Vicarage Road Stadium against 19 schools representing the other Premier League clubs to become national champions.”
