More than 900 children and adults gathered at Avanti House Primary School in Stanmore for a celebration of Holi, the Festival of Colours.
The event on Saturday, March 15, was organised by the Friends of Avanti House (FOAH). Participants took part in a festive colour throw, covering each other in bright powder, and families enjoyed music and dancing.
Holi marks the beginning of spring and has been celebrated for thousands of years.
Palvi Raijada, chair of FOAH, said: “The annual FOAH Holi event was a great success. The community came together to celebrate spring. There was lots of dancing and singing and it was enjoyed by all.”
Principal Lalita Joshi added: “Holi is one of the most vibrant and joyous festivals in our school calendar. It is a celebration that transcends barriers, bringing our community together through colour, laughter and devotion. Rooted in the timeless wisdom of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, Holi reminds us of the divine pastimes of Lord Krishna and the triumph of good over evil. It is also a time to welcome spring, celebrate new life, and express gratitude for nature’s abundance.”
