Moving tribute paid to Pinner man

A moving tribute has been paid to man who hanged himself in Pinner at the end of November. Richard Pamphilion, was found hanging from his balcony on Hazeldene Drive on November 28 just after 10am in the morning. A neighbour and friend, David Owen, gave a poignant tribute to My News Magazine about what type of person Richard was. He said: “Richard has been described since his passing as a ‘lovely man’ and a ‘nice character’ which are perfect descriptions of him and that is how I will remember him. My family and I lived in the same block of flats as Richard for many years and we have so many fond memories of him. “When we moved in to Hazeldene Drive he was the first person we met. He was a tall, muscly, bald headed man, who would be intimidating if it wasn’t for his warm smile that instantly put us at ease. Without having met us before he seemed happy to have new neighbours and offered to help carry our furniture upstairs for us. From that first meeting his kindness towards myself and my family continued and was truly humbling. He also made the flats feel safer, just by being there at the foot of the stairs. “On many occasions Richard would invite me into his house to show me his latest works of art. But in itself his house was the work of art. A full size instillation that he lived amidst. For instance, Richard’s kitchen had pots, pans, cutlery and crockery glued to the walls, cupboards and ceiling in strangely beautiful concentric patterns. He explained to me that he didn’t cook and only ate take away food so never needed any of the kitchen utensils. “Richard was amazingly creative, always turning the ordinary into amazing art, usually with nothing but glue to bind it all together. But like many truly creative souls, Richard was on occasion quite troubled. And I guess at the end the glue that bound this amazing man together just wasn’t strong enough anymore. “If there is a place we go after this, one day I hope to find Richard there, glue gun in hand, at peace.”
