Published on: 19th November 2023   |   By: Panayiota Demosthenous   |   Category: Uncategorized

Bianca Judd, a special effects artist from St Albans, featured in the first-ever edition of St Albans News back in 2015.

Since being featured for winning the international Stan Winston contest, Bianca has gone on to work on several major blockbuster movies and shows, such as Doctor Who, The Witcher, Jeepers Creepers 4, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Napoleon, Star Wars, and Ghostbusters.

Catching up with St Albans News, she said: “It’s only until you look at it all together on your CV that you realise what you’ve done!

“The highlight for me was walking into Pinewood Studios to work on Marvel’s Quantumania, standing on the set surrounded by A-list celebrities and thinking, wow is this really happening!”

Bianca says her favourite projects to work on are the creatures and gory special effects makeup, which couldn’t be possible without the collaborative work of the team.

In her latest project, Bianca worked with SFX artist Will Harvey to transform Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall into the one and only Mr Bean for a Halloween project.

She said: “We didn’t have time to do a test, so me and Will did a live cast and casted the makeup, which we took on the day, and fit together onto her face like a jigsaw puzzle.”

Bianca regularly works with the Young People’s Puppet Theatre in St Albans, where she worked as a project leader for a few years, and continues to go in for training days to help advise upcoming young SFX artists on painting techniques.
