MIND MATTERS: Football team foundation helps out care home with mental health

Published on: 17th February 2022   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

The people of Chorleywood Beaumont care home received an enlightening session from the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation to mark the ‘Time to Talk Day’ mental health awareness campaign.

Both residents and staff at the home were able to join the ‘Health and Wellbeing Seminar’, organised by the foundation and run by their programme coordinator Adam Millar.

The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation was set up by the world-famous North London football club in 2007 as a way for them to further support local communities and change lives.

The talk focused on the importance on health and wellbeing and what it actually means to people. Adam gave tips on staying fit and active during the twilight years of life, as well as ways to keep mentally healthy as well.

The virtual event ended with a seated exercise session and some mindfulness meditation.

Speaking about the event, Adam said: “One of our main focuses at the Foundation is to promote a healthy lifestyle. I was delighted to meet the residents and the local community over Zoom at Chorleywood Beaumont to discuss the importance of good health and wellbeing.”

General Manager, Nick Wrapson, said: “Our residents are all very interested in ways to keep active and mindful, so it was great to hear Adam’s advice. The session was really interactive, and we really enjoyed the exercise session. We are very grateful to Adam and the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation for all their support.”
