Billy McKinlay lavished praise on Czech striker Matej Vydra after the hitman’s recent goals against Blackburn and Brentford. The Watford Head Coach thinks Vydra will be an important part of his plans as his side seek promotion back to the Premier League. He said: “Vydra has been terrific in the last two games. I am very impressed with his quality and his goals have been outstanding. He is bubbly around the training pitch and seems to be enjoying his football.” He also lauded the squad as a whole for their attitude since he has come into the club. He added: “I have been very impressed with the players. It is such a demanding league and after dropping two points against Blackburn to then come back on the Tuesday and show the energy levels they did is very pleasing. On the whole their application and commitment has been first class.” McKinlay also explained how much of a help Ruben Martinez and Javier Periera have been so far in his short time at the club. “I have been leaning on them heavily in terms of them giving me in depth knowledge of players and how they have seen the games and they have both been a big, big help to me.
