Huel Tring Rugby Club recently hosted their own Eight Nations Touch Rugby competition to prepare for their World Touch Tournament in June.
On Saturday, March 15, the club hosted eight teams of eight players, representing six well-known and two lesser-known European rugby powerhouses. These included three of the ‘Roses’, the women’s touch rugby squad, playing in each team.
The teams played four matches each before a final between Georgia and Italy, where the Italians took the top spot. Gen George, one of the Roses, picked up Player of the Tournament.
To celebrate, the teams retired to the clubhouse and watched the real Six Nations.
This was a warm-up for the ‘World’ Touch Tournament on Saturday, June 7, when 24 teams and over 200 players will compete. This will be followed by the youth awards and an after-party.
A spokesperson for the club said: “The club wishes all its players, supporters and volunteers a massive thanks, and not forgetting our generous sponsors.
“The club is already looking forward to next season.”
