Members of a Ruislip karate club fought their way to a fantastic tally of 13 medals at a recent national martial arts competition.
Members of the Fudo-Shin-Ryu Shokotan Karate School (FSR Karate) attended the English Karate Organisation (EKO) championships at the North Solihull Sports Centre on Saturday, March 9.
Together, the 20 participants and their sensei – watched by some of the younger members’ parents and siblings – chopped and kicked their way to success in the competition.
Overall, the FSR Karate squad won an impressive haul of 13 medals, with one gold, one silver and three bronzes in the individual kata event; three silvers and three bronzes in the synchronised adult team kata event; and two bronzes in the free sparring events.
A spokesperson for the club said: “We are delighted with the performance of all the participating students, especially as this was the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic that the club has sent a team to the annual EKO tournament event.”
