Maple Cross residents take on litter louts

Published on: 29th March 2018   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

Last weekend over 40 local residents including children spent the morning picking up litter from around Maple Cross.

After being postponed twice due to snow the Maple Cross Spring Clean finally went ahead. On Saturday and Sunday morning a total of 41 volunteers picked up litter all around the village. Bottles, razor blades, paper, DVDs and textiles were just some of the items collected. After the Sunday pick all the volunteers gathered at the Maple Cross Community Centre to enjoy a BBQ, the food being donated by the Rickmansworth Tesco.

The litter pick was organised by Su Tysoe, Emma Nicholas, Phil Williams a local councillor and Jeanette Dumbleton and supported by Clancy Docwra, Skanska, Thames Water, Travis Perkins and Keir (H2S) who provided the necessary safety and picking equipment.

Everyone was impressed by the amount collected and there are plans to do another pick in the autumn. Details will be posted on the local Facebook site nearer the time.
