A man from Watford recently ran the Virgin Money London Marathon in memory of his father, Stanley, who died of heart disease. Gary Wong, 32, raced to the finish in aid of the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and his efforts will help to fund vital research which is changing the lives of those affected by heart disease. Gary ran the 26.2 mile course on Sunday April 26 in an amazing 3 hours 47 minutes and hopes to raise over £1,250 for the BHF. Gary said: “Running the Virgin Money London Marathon was a massive challenge and an incredible experience. The atmosphere on the day was brilliant and I’m proud to have been part of the BHF Heart Runners team. Knowing I was running for such a great cause made me determined to succeed. “It was fantastic to have everyone there cheering me on to the finish, knowing that my sponsorship money will help the BHF to raise much-needed funds for their pioneering research.” Tristam Jones, Head of Events at the British Heart Foundation said: “Thanks to Gary for joining the Heart Runners team. Without our supporters we cannot continue to fund life saving research into heart disease and provide those affected with the care and support they need.”
