Police are investigating after several teenage girls in Rickmansworth were sent messages of a “sexually threatening nature”.
The messages were sent via the social media app Snapchat and have been described by police as “malicious” and “distressing”.
Upon reports being made, police enquiries were carried out to try and trace the sender of the messages.
However, at this time, all lines of enquiry have been exhausted, though police have confirmed that any new information that they receive will be immediately acted upon.
A spokesperson for Herts Police said: “Anyone with information, or anyone who may have received similar messages, is asked to please contact police.”
“In light of these incidents, we would encourage parents and guardians to please speak with their children about staying safe online.
“Only accept friend or message requests from people you genuinely know and never give out any personal details. If you have any concerns about conversations online, stop engaging and report it.”
