Creativity and environmental awareness took centre stage earlier this year when a recycling poster competition was launched for pupils across the borough.
Organised by Veolia, which delivers recycling and waste collections for Watford Borough Council, the competition challenged schoolchildren to think differently about waste and inspire positive behaviour change.
Young artists from schools across Watford were invited to design an A4 poster celebrating recycling. Year 6 pupil Saira from Knutsford Primary Academy stood out.
Her winning design beautifully captured the journey of recycling, showing how a single item can be transformed into something new.
The winning poster was selected by Peter Taylor, Mayor of Watford, and Saira proudly collected her award with a beaming smile.
Andrew, head of operations at Veolia Watford, said: “The standard of entries was fantastic, and it’s clear that young people in Watford understand the importance of recycling and are committed to making a difference.”
Peter Taylor, Mayor of Watford, said: “A huge thank you to all the amazing children who took part in our recycling competition.”
