Longdean School is thrilled to celebrate the Year 8 boys’ rugby team’s magnificent win in the inaugural Spirit of Rugby Cup, on Wednesday, October 12.

The Year 8 rugby team played a fantastic match against John F Kennedy Catholic School (JFK), at the formers away ground, in the Spirit of Rugby Cup, a tournament that is played all over the world with the aim of encouraging more people to get into playing the sport.

Head of Year 8 and teacher of physical education of Longdean School, Mr Dean Jennings spoke to Hemel News and said: “’Firstly, thank you to JFK for bringing all of the local schools back together for a district rugby tournament.

“Since COVID, this has been put onto the back burner, so to see all of those boys out there, from a range of schools, giving it a good go was great to see!

“Our Year 8 Longdean students played incredibly well, showing a good array of skills and some strong tackling and rucking in particular. We were unbeaten throughout the tournament, but more importantly, the boys showed great teamwork, discipline, work ethic and humility. An absolute credit to our school.”
