LOCKDOWN PORTRAITS: Bushey photographer raises more than £1,500 through initiative

Published on: 18th June 2020   |   By: Geraint Roberts   |   Category: Uncategorized

Mary Hennessy has used her photography expertise to help raise money for three separate Hertfordshire charities; Homestart Watford, Spread A Smile and Red Trust Bushey.

More than £1,500 has been raised through the initiative that has taken place throughout lockdown, and it has been a real hit throughout the community as it gives them a memory for these strange times.

The portraits have costed £20 and every penny goes to one of the three named charities.

Mary said: “I didn’t really expect it to be this successful, I have had fantastic support from regular clients who have then told their friends and family about me to get word around about what I am doing.

“I felt like it was a good opportunity to do something positive for the charities, it was the perfect time to give something back and I generally just want to help out where possible.

“It is something that people can do from the comfort of their own home and we make sure we are socially distancing. I think in my mind I wanted a record of the general community during these times, and all the personal stories that have come with the lockdown.”
