The Croxley community brought history to life with a VE Day 80th anniversary picnic to acknowledge “community spirit, remembrance, and living history.”
On Saturday, May 10, the Croxley Green Parish Council invited residents along to the celebration on The Green.
Catching the eye of passers-by was local resident Barry Read and his restored Bren Gun Carrier, a British Army Carrier once used for infantry support.
His grandsons, Milo, 7, and Ozzie, 5, proudly gave visitors a tour and were on hand to answer questions.
Milo, who is also a pupil at Yorke Mead Primary School, said: “It’s been the best day with my grandad and family.”
Families across the village gathered together in glorious sunshine to enjoy vintage displays, music, and share their gratitude for the people who served during the Second World War.
Councillor Narinder Sian, who captured the day through his camera lens, said to CROXLEYnews: “Seeing our young people engage with living history and our community coming together in such a warm, respectful way was truly moving.
“It’s moments like this that remind us how powerful shared remembrance can be.”
