A Chalfont St Peter resident is campaigning to make a new local defibrillator available to the public at all times.
Samantha Galloway took to Facebook with the goal of raising £700 for a weatherproof cabinet to house the device. The defibrillator itself has already been donated by Thames Valley Heartbeat.
On the fundraising page, Samantha wrote: “This cause is close to my heart, especially following the tragic loss of a young resident in January. It’s a painful reminder that we never know when a life-saving device like a defibrillator may be needed. By having one readily available in our community, we give everyone a better chance.”
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Heartbeat told CHALFONTS&GERRARDSCROSSnews: “Thames Valley Heartbeat is delighted to be donating its 21st defibrillator to the community surrounding the Budgens Store in Chalfont St Peter. We hope it will never be used but know that if someone suffers a cardiac arrest, it could save their life. We will continue to fundraise to install as many defibrillators as we can.”
