Liberal Democrat Bill Stanton won a landslide victory in the Watford Borough Council by-election for Tudor ward on October 10 with a majority of over 400 voters over the Conservative party whilst Labour slumped to third.
Cllr Bill Stanton, Liberal Democrat Councillor for Tudor Ward said: “I’m so grateful for everyone for supporting me and it such an honour to become the councillor for Tudor ward. This shows people like the work the Liberal Democrats are doing locally – whether bringing jobs and investment to Watford or improving parks and open spaces I can’t wait to get started.”
Lib Dem parliamentary candidate for Watford Ian Stotesbury said: “It’s great to welcome Bill as a Lib Dem councillor and meet and listen to so many residents in Tudor over the past weeks and months.
“Already this year Labour have lost seats and support and in the local and European elections in Watford. In this by-election they went backwards once again, falling from second place to third. It’s clear that whenever there is a General Election it will be a close contest between the Liberal Democrats and a new Conservative candidate.”
