LESSON LEARNT: Fly tipper loses home and job following prosecution for incident in Gerrards Cross

Published on: 8th June 2023   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

A London man who committed an act of fly tipping in Gerrards Cross says he has learned his lesson after losing his job and home as a result of committing the offence.

Buckinghamshire Council attended Lower Road in December 2022 to a report of fly tipping. The source of the waste was found to be a house in West London.

When the homeowner was interviewed, she said she had hired Abdul Azim, 43, as a contractor to carry out some DIY and waste disposal.

Azim was summoned to court in April but was arrested by police after failing to attend. He pleaded guilty to the charge at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on May 10, 2023.

He told the court that due to the incident, he has lost his job, and was subsequently no longer able to afford the rent on his home. He admitted that the whole incident was “a harsh lesson learnt”.

Azim was fined £200 for the offence and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £80 and £1,140 in council costs, adding up to a total of £1,360.
