“How on earth am I ever going to be able to care about anything ever again?” was the question BBC commentator John Hunt was left with after his family were brutally murdered in Bushey last year.
On July 9, 2024, Kyle Clifford entered the Hunt family home, where he stabbed Carol, raped and shot his former partner Louise with a crossbow, and shot her sister Hannah.
Clifford is currently serving three life orders after pleading guilty to murder.
In an emotional first interview since his wife and two daughters were murdered last July, John Hunt and his daughter Amy shared the legacy of love their family members left behind.
The pair said they have made the decision to talk publicly to ensure their family will not be defined by their deaths.
They also wanted to share that they felt much of the initial reporting following the crime was inaccurate, adding to their pain.
John stated that Carol, Louise and Hannah remain a constant presence in their lives, and he still talks to them every day.
He told the BBC: “From the moment I wake up, I say good morning to each of them… As I close my eyes at night, I chat to them as well. They’re very close to me all the time.”
Amy shared that her mum and sisters “became a statistic”, and now she wants “to breathe life back into my mum, Hannah and Louise as fully-rounded people”.
