A family-run venue in St Albans could be forced to close after a string of noise complaints from neighbours.
The Farmers Boy on London Road has been handed a noise abatement order, which threatens the future of the pub and its live music, which has been a key part of the venue for 14 years.
Pub landlady Rosalin Kintu told MyLocalNews that the venue has always followed the rules and implemented suggestions from the council.
On Wednesday, March 30, The Farmers Boy lodged an appeal with St Albans Magistrates Court appealing the notice and are now awaiting an initial hearing date.
Pub manager Kevil Yelland added: “There should be a balance between the right of our neighbours to not be overtly disturbed and our ability to operate a business without interference from the authorities.”
St Albans City and District Council said they served a noise abatement notice on the business following an investigation of several complaints from residents.
It is my understanding that it is one person complaining multiple times.
