A Kings Langley man has been jailed for 18 months after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm, following a row over queue-jumping at Watford Junction station. Lewis Taylor, 24, of Waterside, was sentenced at St Albans Crown Court on Tuesday (February 24). At an earlier hearing, the court was told the victim, a 54-year-old man from Abbots Langley, had suffered a brain haemorrhage after Taylor attacked him at a taxi rank outside the station. The man had been trying to calm the situation after several other people had shouted at Taylor for jumping the queue in the early hours of Sunday December 14 2014. The court heard Taylor became enraged when his victim asked him to ‘chill out’, punching him so hard he fell to the ground, smashing his head on the pavement. When police arrived, Taylor admitted attacking the man, and was arrested. The victim suffered a haemorrhagic stroke, a fractured nose, bruising to his face and damage to his teeth. He was released from hospital after two days, but continued to be monitored. Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Vicki Bladen said: “Taylor expressed regret for the injuries his victim suffered, but that does not change the fact that his actions were deliberate. “Violent incidents like this one are thankfully rare, but when they do happen, we work hard to make sure those responsible are brought to account. “I hope Taylor will use his time in prison to continue to reflect on his actions and the impact they have had on his victim.” Photo courtesy of Hoss Photography
