King George parkrun

Published on: 14th January 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Uncategorized

Each month we take a look at a local, club, group, society or association. This month we feature running group – King George Junior parkrun.

King George Junior parkrun is held every Sunday at 9am for children aged four to 14-years-old which takes place at King George Recreation Ground, King George Avenue, Bushey, WD23 4NT.

The club currently has 214 runners who take part in a 2km track around the recreation ground. They are welcome to walk, jog or run – the main aim is to have fun.

The club is free to participate in, but runners will need to register so runners can be sent a personal barcode, so you can record your progress.

Children will also receive a half marathon wristband if they run 11 times, a marathon one if they run 21 times, and an ultramarathon wristband if they run 50 times.

Run director, Lesley Vans, said: “Parents can run with their children if they want to. Just like adult parkrun, times are recorded and put on the website results page. We’re always looking for volunteers, and if people would like to volunteer, they can email kinggeorge-juniorshelpers@parkrun.com.”

At the end of the run, everyone is invited to grab a coffee in the Park Café.
