KICK STARTER: Kings Langley school offering football and education scheme to young women

Published on: 15th November 2025   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Uncategorized

A new partnership between Kings Langley School and Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust has led to the opportunity for women aged 16-19 to combine A-Level studies with the chance to train and play football.

This scheme allows students to fulfil both their academic potential alongside football training and regular matches provided by trust staff at Kings Langley’s state-of-the-art facilities.

This scheme has built on the success of the trust’s partnership with Samuel Ryder Academy in St Albans, Westfield Academy in Watford and Whitmore High School in Harrow, who offer similar projects for male students.

It was recorded that 100 per cent of students leaving the Whitmore project in 2024 received a grade of Distinction, Merit (DDM) or higher. Five students from Westfield went on to play football in America after receiving a scholarship, with one now playing in Slovakia.

Neil Dean, head of Football and Education Projects at the Trust, said: “We hope to see lots of players coming to the trials and those who we think have the required footballing ability then choose Kings Langley for their A-Level studies in just over years’ time.”

Autumn trials are being held on Wednesday, October 29, from 4:30 – 6pm at the school. This will be followed by a Post-Open Evening Trial on Wednesday, December 3, 5-6 pm and a February Half Term Trial on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, 5-6pm.
