A long-awaited outdoor adult gym has finally opened at the Eastbury Recreation Ground.
Aimed for anyone aged 13 or above, all residents of Northwood and Moor Park can enjoy the newest addition to the outdoor space, located on Northwood’s Batchworth Lane.
The gym has been funded by Three Rivers District Council, who have provided 25 per cent of the money needed, whilst the rest has been put forward by Batchworth Community Council, based in Rickmansworth.
Equipment that can be used includes monkey bars, an exercise bike, a cross trainer and magnetic bells for weight training. It joins tennis courts and a play area already located on the recreation ground.
Plans for the gym have been afoot for some time, with a residents’ consultation on the matter going out in early 2020. The aim to is to provide a free place for anyone to come along and exercise, without having to pay the expensive of a gym or sports club membership.
