Published on: 21st September 2020   |   By: Geraint Roberts   |   Category: Uncategorized

An animal loving 11-year-old from Rickmansworth has raised £210 for a local wildlife rescue.

Ellie Waller held a ‘Guess the Name of the Hedgehog’ competition donating a hand knitted toy hedgehog as the prize.

Thanks to family, friends and supporters of CW Wildlife Rescue she was able to hand founder Chris Wicks the generous amount. Donations like this are vital to the running of rescue.

As a thank you she got to meet some of the orphaned and injured animals it will help. Ellie has since started volunteering at the rescue and loves helping out.

Chris said: “Ellie is a very keen volunteer and supporter of the rescue. She’s one of our youngest and also one of the brightest.

“The money she raised was put towards a new intensive care incubator which will save countless baby animals and birds. We couldn’t operate without people like Ellie she is a lovely girl and a credit to her parents.

“It is very important to me to get the young people of the area involved with the rescue because we must ensure that the diminishing wildlife in our local community is cared for.”
