Bovingdon captain lead his golf team to an impressive third place in the national finals which took place in Portugal last month.

The West Herts Golf Club Junior Team, captained by Lewis Titcombe from Bovingdon, beat teams from Kilmarnock, Aberdeen and Carmarthen to earn third place in the Great Britain and Ireland Junior Team Golf competition.

The team, consisting of Chipperfield boy Edgar Crook, Zach Little, Matt Gauntlett, Noah Peters, Alex Raybould, Lewis Titcombe, Freddie Symonds, Lewis Slade and Adam Ward, joined the other seven finalists out of the 2,000 clubs that attempted.

The course that held the competition was the Morgado Golf Resort which is hosting the Portuguese Open later this year.

Dave Crook, Junior Organiser at the club, said: “We are immensely proud of the team. They are a young squad with great potential to build upon their achievements so far.

“Our oldest players will still be with us for another two years, our youngest for five years, and we have a constant stream of players developing from our Academy. The future is bright and we all can’t wait to start competing again later this year.”

The team have built on their previous success of last season where they retained the Hertfordshire KO Cup (VER League) which was against 16 local clubs.

The juniors have their first match of the 2019 VER League in March against rivals Essendon and the South West Herts Junior League campaign begins in May at home to Moor Park.
