Bargain hunters will be excited to hear that Batchworth Sea Scouts’ Grand Jumble Sale will return on Saturday, March 23.
Shoppers can sift through second-hand clothing, kitchenware and a variety of other items whilst enjoying a bite to eat from the barbecue run by the Scouts.
Returning once again this year is Eileen Cooke, who has run the jewellery stall since 1985. In her own words, the 89 year old has “absolutely loved” every minute of it and looks forward to teaching the newest generation of Scouts how to seal a deal.
This year, the Batchworth Sea Scouts are more reliant on the jumble sale than ever before. With the Rickmansworth Canal Festival cancelled for 2024, the sale will be the Scouts’ biggest fundraising initiative of the year. Most of the funds raised will go towards modernising the Scout HQ on Riverside Drive, which provides a meeting place for the 150-odd members of the group.
The sale will kick off at 10.30am at the Scout HQ.
