Jokanovic praises Hornets resolve

Watford earned a hard-fought point away to Wolves at the weekend, coming from behind twice to rescue a draw.

The Hornets got off to a poor start as Benik Afobe gave the home side the lead before Matej Vydra equalised. Kortney Hause then gave the Midlanders the lead for a second time with a deflected strike before Deeney carried on his good form in front of goal with the leveller. Jokanovic praised his side’s resolve for getting a crucial point and extending their unbeaten run to four matches. He said: “It was a difficult game – and we showed great strength to fix our problems. “All we can do is to keep preparing for what is in front of us – because we cannot affect what is already gone.” Jokanovic admitted that “the Championship is crazy”, aware of results from elsewhere on a day which saw a single point for the Golden Boys take them to a four-way share of the summit on 66 points. “There are 10 games to go. The most important part of the season is ahead of us,” he commented. “Both teams could have won or lost this match. I believe at the end of the game my team was closer to winning this match but Wolves are a good team. “Their personality and character is big and they are strong. We knew these things after Christmas time at our place so I say we showed good strength to meet the challenges.” Defender Tommie Hoban was sent off for two debatable bookings and the Serbian added that he hoped referees would show more support to his team during the run in. “It’s simple. I am a professional manager, I work with professional players, so we need proper support from the referees,” stated Jokanovic. Picture courtesy of Alan Cozzi
