Two selfless brothers from Bushey Heath have set up a charity to give stationery to children in need.
Joe and Sam Pressinger have set up Stationery Moving after watching a documentary on disadvantaged children who did not even have items such as pens and pencils for school life, let alone for craft and enjoyment.
The boys’ proud father Marc said the boys felt like they wanted to try to do something to help.
He explained: “They felt so many people must have drawers full of stationery which would be great for people who do not have these things, thought we could collect it and clean it up and get it to those in need. Then they came up with the name Stationery Moving as a play on words to get stationery moving to great homes.”
Marc explained: “We will be processing all donated stationery to ensure it is safe, pens work, pencils sharpened, and then collating sets to put in foil zip lock pouches with a little packet of sweeties and then heat seal and label ready for a new home. We feel that very many people have a drawer full of stationery and now they can feel that could get ‘stationery moving’ to a great new home.”
The boys have identified Barnardo’s as an organisation working with disadvantaged children and they are very enthusiastic about the initiative. Six of their shops will act as collection points throughout January and February.
Anyone with spare stationery which they’d like to donate could drop it into one of the six Barnardo’s stores in Bushey Heath High Street, Green Lane, Northwood; Glengall Road, Edgware; Station Road, Edgware; Love Lane, Pinner; or Ruislip High Street before the end of February.
