More data has been released from the 2021 Census, revealing interesting figures about the workforce in The Chalfonts and Gerrards Cross.
The census takes place every 10 years and provides a picture of all the people and households in England and Wales.
In all areas – named as Chalfont St Peter West, Chalfont Common and St Peter East, Little Chalfont, Chalfont St Giles, Seer Green and Jordans, and Gerrards Cross – the number of those in employment outnumbered those who were unemployed.
Of those who were unemployed, the majority were people who had worked before, but not in the last 12 months. This category included people who had retired. Less than 24 per cent of people in all areas had never worked in their life.
The majority of workers in Chalfont St Peter West, Chalfont Common and St Peter East, and Little Chalfont worked in professional roles – defined as jobs that “require a high level of knowledge in the natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, social sciences, humanities and related fields”.
In Chalfont St Giles, Seer Green and Jordans, and Gerrards Cross, the majority of workers were in the category of managers, directors and senior officials.
