Janmaat backs Hornets to carry on improving

Published on: 22nd February 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Watford FC

Ahead of tonight’s game against Cardiff City, Watford defender Daryl Janmaat says the Hornets know they can improve even further.

Watford have enjoyed an impressive season so far and have set their sights on being the ‘best of the rest’ outside the top six.

Speaking to the Watford website, Janmaat said: “We’re in the quarter finals of the FA Cup and we have a league good position too. We must push now to end of the season and reach something we haven’t done before. We are one point off seventh and European football which is something we haven’t done before so we have to try and get it.”

It’s been over 30 years since Watford were last in Europe under the stewardship of the late great Graham Taylor in the 1983/1984 UEFA Cup.

Although the Hornets are refusing to get carried away, Janmaat said European football would be just reward for all this season’s hard work.

He commented: “It’s a big thing for the club. Lot of our players have not played in Europe before, it would be good for everyone. You never know but it’s really tough for all teams. We show a lot of ambition and every year the group improve – and we know we can still get better.”
