Indie band No Rest for the Spacemen made a return flight home to Kings Langley to highlight the importance of supporting local musicians.

The band – made up of Charlie Parker on vocals and rhythm guitar, Danny Beling on lead guitar, Dan Wood on drums, and Alex on the bass – have over 3,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and perform across London and Hertfordshire.

While the band’s career continues to skyrocket, they are using their platform to share how support from the community can really make a difference in the music industry.

Reporters from KINGSnews popped down to a gig at The Old Palace on Saturday, May 17, to catch up with the band and their fans about the impact of their success.

Charlie said: “When we first started, we struggled to find a local venue, so coming up to places like here was great and now we want to help give light to more bands.”

Danny added: “I don’t think we realised how much talent there actually is out there that no one has heard of, which is what drives us so much.”

The band also shared that there is “something special” about returning to some of their old venues.

Charlie added: “The people here want to support us. It’s my favourite place to gig. We know all the faces and it’s a good energy.”

Dan’s girlfriend Holly said: “Lots of people have connected through the band, which is nice. It’s like walking into a big family.

“It is good they are focusing on others that need that help which I think explains how they are as people and how they are separate to other bands.”
