Being a professional footballer is about being an inspiration, as well as an athlete – something a young player has taken to heart by donating his kit to a charity shop in Hemel Hempstead.
The Salvation Army charity shop in The Marlowes is supporting Green Football’s Great Save campaign, a project aimed at encouraging football fans to pass on, sell and reuse their kits.
To kickstart their campaign, the charity shop welcomed football star Alexei Rojas. The young player, who signed his first professional contract with Arsenal last year, donated his old kit and boots.
A spokesperson for the shop posted on social media: “Thank you to the lovely Alexei Rojas for his signed donation. Did you know a huge amount of old season football shirts are sent to landfill every minute? Let’s stop this from happening!”
Alexei said: “Join me in Green Football’s Great Save and donate, sell, or re-use your kit and save it from going to landfill.”
